The house was very cute and perfect for us and our two kids who claimed the second story. The hosts were very sweet and even shipped our son’s stuffie back after we accidentally left it. Would recommend

Our family of seven had to pivot fast when a full bathroom and basement renovation left us without a functioning home base. Enter The Walden House in Waldo — a last-minute Airbnb that became a sanctuary.
Spacious, sunlit, and styled with intention, this modern craftsman gave us more than shelter. It gave us clarity, calm, and connection during a chaotic week. Every detail — from the cozy sectional to the elegant dining space — felt like it was designed to hold families, stories, and breath.
Thank you to our host Gudrun for creating a space that felt safe, warm, and deeply restorative. We didn’t plan this stay, but it reminded us: even detours can feel like home.
Highly recommend for families, creatives, or anyone navigating life’s curveballs with grace.

Very nice home. Lovely and historic. In the Waldo area which was great and near some wonderful restaurants and bars. To note, the home is on a busy street but a plus is not really further than 15 minutes to get to attractions. The host was very accommodating and helpful. The beds are firmer than what I’m used to but do have a temperpedic like feel and I had no aches and pains when I got up, which was great. I recommend staying here!

L’endroit est parfait pour notre famille ! L’endroit est chaleureux et on s’y sent bien immédiatement . C’est décoré avec goût et il est très facile à partir de cette endroit de rayonner dans la région autant cercle d’or que la péninsule de Reykjanes. De tous les Airbnb que j’ai fait en Islande ce fut mon préféré !

Lovely house to stay in with beautiful sunsets! It was a perfect spot for our family to relax after busy days of sight-seeing, with lots of light, space, and beautiful views. The house was well-equipped, very clean, and beautifully decorated, especially upstairs. From booking through check-out, everything was very easy and Gudrun was responsive and helpful. For quick groceries and coffee, there is a little shop right next door for all your necessities. If you're looking for a peaceful place a little off the beaten path of the Ring Road, I would highly recommend a stay at Gudrun's place!

Our family of two adults and two teenagers loved our stay. The place is comfortable, very cute; and fully stocked in the kitchen including pans, dishes, utensils, oils, salt, pepper, tea, and coffee. Kitchen is well laid out and easy to use. In the bathroom there is body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and in the laundry there is detergent, which was a pleasant surprise. The house is by a small store that has more than you’d think it would have, and we got all the groceries we needed for the week. There are a few domesticated cats that are around town and some were very friendly and loved to be pet. The cemetery is small and charming and adds a ton of character to the stay. The beach is very walkable from the house on a path near the ocean - about 10 minutes walk. Calm and quiet and beautiful. Local residents were kind. We feel lucky to have found the place. Strongly recommend!

We had a very nice stay at Gudrun’s home! It’s conveniently located for traveling all around KC. Gudrun was very communicative, clear, and helpful. The kitchen was well stocked, large, and super clean.
The street is one-way so parking is easy and the block is quiet and calm — but it’s very close to many good restaurants and bars.
Beds are very comfortable! The linens are great. As noted in the listing, the upstairs bedroom and bathroom are an open space, but that wasn’t a problem for us as a couple.
The house has lots of windows that let in great natural light when you want it — but are equipped with terrific blinds when you want privacy.
Overall a great stay in a great location; thank you, Gudrun!

Gudrun’s place was exactly as described. Everything went very well. As great as everything was at the house, the location is fantastic. It is close enough to walk to the country club plaza with all the great restaurants and shopping and it is minutes by car from Westport and Crown Center. We WILL stay here again. Thank you Gudrun.
